I made this painting based on data from the WMAP satellite.  I thought the color choice could be tweaked a bit, to suggest the colors of the blankets that newborns are swaddled with in hospitals.  The announcement of the Plank results in March 2013 brought the phrase "universe baby picture" back into focus.  I preferred the images with the Milky Way left in, because I think it is more striking this way, like some amazing Fabergé egg about to crack open.
